The back-and-forth volley between the Texas state government and Big 12 suggests the Sorsby ordeal could still get plenty messier. The threat of litigation, which Paxton argued would cost the conference "substantially more than $200 million" in damages would seem like a strong deterrent, but doing nothing has its own cost. The conference also seems to have clear justification for reprimanding Texas Tech based on its own bylaws, which Paxton points to in his statement.

Epic Spurs collapse highlights major problem for franchise going forward

The San Antonio Spurs will be feeling the effects of their epic Game 4 collapse in the NBA Finals long after the series concludes, which could be as soon as Friday. The pain of the stunning 107-106 loss to the New York Knicks, which saw the Spurs blow an NBA Finals-record 29-point lead, may eventually subside, but guard De'Aaron Fox's soon-to-be onerous contract could prevent San Antonio from making up for the loss anytime soon.
